Working Hard

Still no job, but theres a few things hopeful on that front.

However, there are two big contests at the monet...the imaginefx cover entry..which you can see my work in progress for in my gallery..and the Deviantart/Wacom Dreams Contest thingy.

In order to prevent my jobless gloom (I apply for between 30 and 50 a week, and have had 2 interviews total..thats the state of the british job market at the moment, thankyou Gordon Brown and Co) I am approaching them both as if they were jobs. In a staggering coincidence, I am actually doing work of a professional standard. WHo would have thought treating a hobby like a job would work so well.

Anyway, you can expect my dreams entry soon hopefully, its a rif on two influences close to my heart, one of which is BladeRUnner. Thats all I will say for now, aprt from to mention I will actually have to composite my drawings together, as it turns out I run out of RAM (on a 4GB machine) hand painting every thing in opencanvas at hi-res as I am atm. It looks gorgeous, but to suddenly relaise you cant make your canvas taller due to memory restrictions, and you currently only have workspace for the lower third of your drawing, makes you realise you are painting really really big.

You know what? I will crop a section of my work in progress on the dreams one and post it right now. I want the whole piece to be a surprise, and I started the day afte rthe contest was announced, so it is all 100 percent new for this piece of work. Next to no reference (as is my way...though i stole the placement of face and hands slightly from the other influence I am not mentioning at the moment) and all hand drawn with my tablet, and mostly on one layer. (again, as is my way, I like to paint straight on the sketch, traditional style)

I am actually so proud of my work this time, that I watch the video event file of me working on it just to remind me it was actually me drawing...really, this is my finest hour. FIngers crossed it leads somewhere
